Hooray to Moms

Mother's Day is one of my favorite days of the year. Not only because it celebrates motherhood and everything that goes along with it, but it is a day to reflect and appreciate all moms.
Being a mom is hands down the hardest job in the world. Oprah stated this on her show years ago and I remember watching it, before I became a mom. I didn't understand it at the time, and my friends who had children didn't ever tell me the full scope of what being a mom really entails. I've been a Mom for over seven years and it is single-handedly the most difficult job on the planet. What job description lists nurse, cook, teacher, doctor, driver, housekeeper, baker, personal shopper, librarian and more all in one role? None, except for mom.
It does not matter if you are a biological mom, stepmom, adopted mom, grand-mom, aunt, cousin, teacher, mom to four legged furry children, nanny, or babysitter. Anyone who takes care of someone's life is a mom. You are on duty 24/7. You are paid in hugs and kisses, snuggles and cuddles and hearing "I love you's" and "you're the best mom."
I salute all moms today, and encourage you to take time for yourself, every single day. Even if it is only ten minutes, it is important to take care of yourself. You will be a better mom for it. The happier you are, the happier your children will be.
Happy Mother's Day! Enjoy your day, enjoy your children and/or pets. Let there be no dishes, cooking or laundry today!
