ABOUT ME

I always loved to write and my dream was to one day be a published author. I am so happy and proud to accomplish this with my first novel, His Kate.

I grew up in West Deptford, New Jersey and graduated from West Deptford High School. I went on to earn a BA in English and Psychology from Widener University. After college, I worked as a tech writer and public relations associate before branching out into meeting planning and marketing, in both corporate and non-profit environments.

I wrote when I had spare time and read hundreds of novels as well as nonfiction books. I came up with the idea for His Kate in the late 1990s from a life experience but didn't begin writing it until 2006. I kept at it over the years in between raising two children.

I enjoy spending time with my children and friends, spinning, travel, movies, cooking, sports and of course, reading and writing. I live with my two children, Dylan and Devon, in the Philadelphia suburbs and in January 2019, we purchased our first home.

Fun facts...

I ran a total of six marathons including two Philadelphia, one Delaware and three Boston. I ran Boston as a bandit, meaning without a bib number. I didn't know that was possible until I lived there.

I started reading to my kids when they were infants. I am very passionate about children's books and maintain a Goodreads account for my kids. We have read over 3,700 books. Feel free to friend us (Dylan & Devon Tandoc) and check out our favorites! I also have a Goodreads account and love to read fiction and non-fiction. Look me up as Sue Krawitz.

I'm a meeting planner and earned my Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) designation in 2002 from the Events Industry Council.

I'm allergic to shellfish, tree nuts, mango and celery. Twice during college I had anaphylactic shock and was treated in the ER.

Since 1986, I've been a Denver Broncos fan. I saw them play in four states, my favorites being MNF at Mile High against the Raiders and MNF In Miami against the Dolphins.

I have a very low tolerance for caffeine and do not eat any chocolate. Carob makes a great substitute. Try Chatfield's carob powder in recipes.

I was a writer, copy editor and sports editor on Widener's student newspaper, The Dome. The Dome staff was like a little family.

My best friend Carla and I camped out in Widener's football stadium bleachers right after I graduated to show our respect for the stadium before it was torn down. We pitched the story and got an article and our picture in the local newspaper.

Prior to His Kate, I wrote a 90,000 word manuscript that will never get published. However, I love the main character (Melinda Dermott) and am writing her into my next project.

I drive a Toyota Prius. My previous cars were two Chevy Cavaliers and a Scion XA.

I've been a pescatarian for the last 30 years.

I love to spin and work out at home to Studio SWEAT on Demand. It is the absolute best!

I played one year of JV basketball in high school. I scored only two points the entire season. I didn't get much playing time and those two points came from my first attempt. For a while I had a 100% FG average.

On the first day of school in first grade, I broke my right tibia bone. Walking too close to the swings at recess, I was hit down by a boy, crashing on the cement blacktop. Too bad they didn't use wood chips back then!

Three of my favorite movies are Sweet Home Alabama, 13 Going on 30, Smooch and Ever After. Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Garner are my favorite actresses.

I bake from scratch and hand mix the batter with a spoon. I follow regular recipes but get the best reviews of my baking, from children and adults.

I'm 5' tall. There were students at my sons' elementary school who were taller than me. I just laughed and blamed it on the growth hormones.
